Olympic Candle was founded in 2016 in Seattle, Washington, by Hou Ong and Jerry Kavalieratos. Their business name was inspired by the Olympic mountains, visible across Puget Sound from Seattle. Their mission was to provide the best handcrafted soy-based candles and home fragrance products on the market.

Hou spent many years in the fragrance industry. He worked with manufacturers of candles, home fragrances and personal care products to develop unique scents that would really excite their customers. As a creative organic chemist, he had a deep understanding of how the chemistry of candles and fragrances work together and spent countless hours developing and perfecting candles for Olympic Candle.

In late 2025, Olympic Candle began a new chapter with the transition of ownership from Hou and Jerry to Alex Wilcox and Alisa Williams.

 

Alex is an experienced small business owner in the Seattle area. His vision is to create a dynamic self-care company that encompasses handmade candles along with wax melts, bath bombs and other scented products.

 

Alisa has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Arts. Consisting of photography, drawing, color theory, weaving and ceramics she is able to apply her artistic training to creating the perfect candle.
